Located along the Fox River, Aurora was founded in 1834 and is currently the second largest community in Illinois with a population fast approaching 160,000. It is easily accessible via the East/West Tollway Route 88 and lies just west of Naperville. It is also connected to the Metra Rail system for easy commuting to downtown Chicago. Aurora continues to grow and look for new, innovative strategies to best serve its residents. The city recently launched a Fox River Corridor Redevelopment initiative to best capitalize on its river location and downtown area, and it is also implementing free public wi-fi in certain areas.

Commercial growth on the city's east and west sides continue to expand the Aurora's boundaries. New residential housing development is projected to bring an additional 60,000 people within the next 20 years. Aurora is home to a variety of destination shopping points including Fox Valley Mall and Prime Outlets. Six school districts serve the area with outstanding records of achievement.

The future for Aurora is as bright as you would expect for a community known as the "City of Lights."
